Finally Finished

Ok, so it has taken a long time to finish my addition to this beautiful green sweater. All of the work is so lovely. I added a beaded butterfly broach,
so it can flutter around all of the flowers.

Where did the time go?????

I received Kathy's sweater in December. I had high hopes of adding to it and sending on it's way by January. Well guess what, that didn't happen and now it is March. March? What happened to January and February? I can't believe I have been such a slacker on this project. I truly apologize and I buckled down this week and finished my additions of the green monkey in the pocket and a little cuff embroidery. The package is now ready to be sent on it's way.
So what have you all been up to. I know that I have been collecting projects again and have a pile of WIPs to prove it. I hope to get a few things tackeled this weekend, but you just never know because I keep finding more and more things that I would love to make.
I hope you all are having a fabulous weekend---d

I don't look ready for prime time here- but it sure was a happy moment I wanted to have documented. Amelia sleeping beside me while I knit with some of my all time favorite hot pink yarn, soft and custom handspun from Shannon at SunriseLodgeFiberStudio, on a recent weekend morning.

I have three pair of hugs-handmade socks from friends: one striped pair from Lori, one ladylike pinky-purple pair from my friend Kusi, and one from long ago from my friend Paul. The socks I've knit in the past have been fat, dr. seuss-y and appropriate for wearing in hiking boots or galoshes. However, just like the magical 'someday' when I only use vintage and handmade dishes, I would love to live happily in the future wearing only handknit socks. That day sure feels far away because I'm a slow knitter.

CREATURED OBJECTS by me :)
well, since our blog has been neglected...and no sweaters seem to be flying about this winter, I thought I'd take a little tangent to share some photos of what's on my mind.

Here are a few of my ceramic cups, which are all over our home. When we have a dinner party, we fill the dining table with an army of large, medium, small and in btwn sized vessels to tempt guests with drinks, appetizers, condiments, candies or dessert. When people ask why I don't sell them, I simply tell them that I'm getting there...but for now I enjoy the growing army.

I have always loved personified and 'creatured' functional objects- maybe so I don't ever get lonely. My dear friends Larry and Daniel sometimes indulge this fascination of mine, as they are likely some of the cause of it! :)

sending love...

hi everyone. i hope the weather is clearing for you. we are having an early spring which is not good either since the cold weather will just ruin the plants but what to do. i am having a hard time posting my pictures from flickr. i don't like the way it works at all. i wanted to share with you my first colorwork bag. a beautiful bag at that. as usual i try to make my own directions, and guess what? i now have a huge felted fruit bowl. will try to share it with you. it looks good filled with apples and oranges but not so much for my bag. anyway, hope all is well. i don't have a project so i might try another bag. xoxo linda

Lulu's Shawl

Hi Bees.... I finished Lulu's shawl finally. I thought I was finished before but it just looked like it needed more.... I added a big L in the top middle surrounded by leaves and flowers. Apparantly my L is off kilter a wee bit so I am so happy Lulu will love it anyway. Here is a pic while it was still a WIP. The only thing missing is 2 more flowers.

packrat

Photo, you say?
I picked up a little last gift from an old friend yesterday....
She filled the little backpack with fat quarters!
Definitely not going to school to be used by small children.
And I'm certain that will be my expression when I have to go back to work next Monday. Ready to jump off a cliff.

my new coat...

Hello Bees...since we have no traveling sweaters here, Momma Lulu had time to make an impromptu dog coat. (I've been wearing Grampa's hand-me-downs, which are a bit snug) Basically, you can just lay the old dog coat on the fabric as a pattern, trace around it...stitch stitch...and since we didn't have velcro in the house, a few big buttons from the button jar came in handy. The results were so encouraging, that...ahem! a certain dog sweater (one that Martha Stewart's french bulldogs wear) might also be finished soon...

happy holidays you all... any photos to share?

I Have Two Shawls

I have Lulu's and Beverly's shawls. I finished Lulu's yesterday. The fine weight yarn had me frazzled I couldn't do anything right. Finally something came to me. I hope Lulu will like it as it was certainly added with Love and Perspiration... LOL I will mail Lulu's off since its completed. I will post a pic before I mail.

Kathy's sock monkey sweater

I have no idea why it took so long. Once I got going, I added the elbow patches and made a little felt banana for the pocket. The banana snaps out, because sometimes you feel like a banana and sometimes you don't.
oh did i get the sweetest red monkey sweater in the mail yesterday. it is so darn cute , i will add my magic and get it off again. a very happy week to all of you.

baby magpie

I always imagine our beautiful and romantic Linda as down to earth. I'm not sure why I felt compelled to add teeny tiny bits of "bling" and flecks of red along the edge of her delicate shawl.

what's wrong with me? An occasional surprise of sparkle just makes me smile :)

If it's too Gypsy - like, please feel free to remove these copper colored sequins, I loosely sewed them on with gold thread. in any case, the love from me will stay :)

Linds's Shawl

Linda's shawl is so delicate. I added some delicate knitted flowers to Dawn's vine. Finding the perfect yarn and colorway was my challenge. After much thought I ended up hand painting some sock yarn.

I hope you like it Linda!

Day late and a dollar short....

that's me. Karen's lovely black shawl has already found its way up north to Linda. But I did add a couple details first.

It's difficult to see, but I added a crochet border to the narrow sides. And a little bug flew off this vintage piece onto the shawl.
